Oakwood is a Conservation Habitat located in Lenawee and Washtenaw counties of Southeast Michigan. The 96 acre site includes an oak-hickory forest that survived a major fire in the 1930s. Typical of undisturbed areas in this part of Michigan, cedars mixed with hardwoods can be found on the northern slopes of the upland areas of the moraine. In the low-lying areas, several wetlands provide cover and habitat for wildlife.
Through forest preservation, wetland conservation, and renovation of an existing residential property, Oakwood Preservation Project seeks to protect the site from degradation. The site is not open to the public and hunting is not permitted.
